The term ‘Industry 4.0’ refers to the ‘fourth industrial revolution or Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)’ where the industries use machineries that are supported with wireless connectivity and sensors, which are connected to a system that can visualisethe entire production line and make decisions on its own using artificial intelligence, cloud computing and cognitive computing of data. In other words, it focuses towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes (smart factory) using internet system, thus marks a transition to a new timeera. Pharma 4.0 technology allows for continuous, real-time monitoring of manufacturing processes so any drift away from  specifiedparameters can be predicted and rectified before it turns  into  a deviation, avoiding the associated down time and loss of product. This new era of manufacturing is characterised by seamless and effective data exchange across the value chain, right from customer requirements, to  supply chains, manufacturing, logistics and after-marketservices.
